Practice Philosophy

The majority of my patients are seeking relief from physical pain of one kind or another. This could be stemming from a chronic issue, an injury, or an unresolved health condition. Many individuals are attempting to decrease stress in their lives as well as find new approaches for ongoing concerns. I also find that a number of people I work with are entering or moving through significant life transitions – starting a family, loss of a partner, serious health diagnosis, changing careers or beginning retirement are examples of such transitions.

I meet my patients where they are, and help them take the next step toward their vision of health and wholeness. I present individuals with new ways of accessing resources within themselves, as well as in the rhythms and routines of their day to day lives. I truly enjoy helping patients make connections between seemingly disparate symptoms, so that together, we can move deeper to address an often common root cause.

My role as a practitioner is in creating space for deeper health to unfold in the lives of my patients. As an acupuncturist, the essence of what I do is to remove obstructions that exist within the natural circulation of qi and blood in the body. This, in effect, restores the body’s own inherent ability to maintain a healthy, dynamic equilibrium. It is not uncommon for an individual to come into my office for the relief of physical pain, only to find that other seemingly unrelated issues begin to resolve with treatment. Patients regularly report better sleep, greater clarity, and improved digestion alongside pain relief.

A typical appointment consists of a Chinese medical evaluation, including pulse and tongue diagnosis, followed by a treatment. I use a variety of modalities when working with patients. I recommend a combination of acupuncture, bodywork, herbal medicine, and dietary therapy that varies according to the unique needs of each individual and condition.
